How to fix boiler for radiant heat

Hi...tired of contractors and this is what l need to do.l have a two unit 
honey bunch
building.The first unit lost a substantial amount of water from the

radiators due to some home improvements, sanding floors, moving some of

the radiators, etc. The system is closed,however Unit 1 gets little water

pumped in. The last guy ran a hose from the laundry sink into the exhaust,

lit the furnace, and viola...back in business.l need toknow these step in
